Thrifty has been operating in New Zealand since 1986.  Thrifty New Zealand is owned by Thrifty Australia, a 100% subsidiary of the NRMA, Australia’s largest motoring association.  Thrifty has been experiencing phenomenal growth over recent years and has definite plans to continue this momentum. 

Being the only first tier Australasian owned car rental company in New Zealand means we have the ability, expertise and power to make decisions locally and immediately for the benefit of our customers and our business. With one of the youngest fleets in the rental car industry (average age 9 months), we provide a full range of sedans, wagons, 4WD’s, minibuses and light commercial vehicles from most locations.

Thrifty has been certified by Qualmark as a ‘Superior’ transport provider for the past 4 years and boasts a consistently high level of customer satisfaction at over 99%.

Thrifty is by strategy a franchise system. More than 90% of its retail outlets worldwide are owned by independent businesses licensed to use the Thrifty trade name, systems and technologies. Each franchised location is required to maintain strict standards in facilities and service.
